On this beautiful fall Saturday, we are headed to a friend's house for a fall celebration. It will be a fun night of great food, friends, and lots of talk of farming. We met these friends through showing goats and they are one of the best families around, so it should be a great night!

We will be bringing with us a plate of what my grandma liked to call Blonde Brownies. These are a quick, easy, and delicious dessert, perfect for a busy family.

My grandma created this recipe and it has been passed down through the family. So there are some parts of it that are left up to your personal preferences 😄 (like the amount of chocolate chips and which pan to use).

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 1 cup shortening

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 bag of chocolate chips (adjust to personal taste or how much you have in the pantry)

Directions:

  1. Spray pan (any pan you would normally make brownies in) and preheat oven to 350°.

  2. Put all ingredients, excluding flour and chocolate chips, in a bowl. Mix by hand or with mixer until blended.

  3. Add flour and mix until blended.

  4. Fold in chocolate chips.

  5. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until brown.

  6. Cut individual brownies or eat directly from the pan! 😄

Comment below if you tried our recipe. We'd love to hear how your family and friends liked it!
