Bacon and Maple Syrup Green Beans

Bacon, Maple Syrup, Fresh Green Beans. Need we say more! As fresh green beans start to become abundant in Minnesota, we thought we would share one of our favorite summer recipes. It’s so good, Cooper asked for these with his birthday meal - yup, a 4 year old asked for green beans at his birthday supper.

But I will warn you, I am turning into my mom. And this recipe looks like it could be right out of her kitchen - no measuring, just tasting 😂

Recipe:

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Place green beans into a pan (we like to use a cast iron pan.)

  2. Cut bacon into small pieces and place in pan with the green beans.

  3. Drizzle maple syrup over the top of the beans and bacon. (I would start with less, you can always add more.)

  4. Cook until the bacon is cooked/candied and the green beans are tender, stirring occasionally.

Note: If you use a leaner bacon like cottage bacon, it can be helpful to add butter to the dish.

This pairs great with a pork chop and mashed potatoes!
